There are no acceptable British records of wild Greater Flamingos in Britain, only escapes from captivity.
Breeds in Spain, France, Cyprus, Balearics, Corsica, Sardina, the Balkans, Sicily, Asia, Eastern & Southern Africa & South East Europe.
Adults are is pinkish-white, but the wing coverts are red and the primary and secondary flight feathers are black.
The bill is pink with a restricted black tip, and the legs are entirely pink.
Juveniles are palelish whiter than the Adults with grey legs.
Groups fly with their necks outstreched.
They have been likened to a flying sunset.
The call is a goose-like honking.
