Very rare vagrants to Britain from South West Europe with 50 records, mostly March-May & November-January period.
Breeds in the mountains of Southern Europe & North Africa at heights 2000 meters above sea level.
It's mainly resident, wintering in low attitudes more widely.
They have a streaked brown back, somewhat resembling a House Sparrow, but Adults have an all-grey head and red-brown spotting on the underparts.
It has an insectivore's fine pointed bill.
Sexes are similar, although the Male may be contrasted in appearance.
Juveniles have browner heads and underparts.
