Very numerous Winter Visitors from October-April with 40,000 in Scotland & Ireland.
Breeds in Eastern Greenland, Spitsbergen & Svalbard in the high arctic.
Feral birds remained at few sites all year.
A few also winters in Belgium & the Netherlands.
A few breed in Belguim & Eastern Europe.
Also Iceland.
Adults have a white face and black head, neck, and upper breast.
Its belly is white.
The wings and its back are silver-grey with black-and-white bars that look like they are shining when the light reflects on it.
The V -shaped white rump patch and the silver-grey underwing linings are visible only in flight.
The call sounds like a pack of small dogs.
Juveniles are similar to Adults, but duller.
