We went to Hodder's Combe yesterday for a walk in the woods & saw a Female Pied Flycatcher, Goldcrests displaying, Grey Wagtail, Honeysuckles & Common Cow-wheat during the morning.

In the afternoon, we spent a lot of time looking around for Heath Fritillaries, but sadly didn't see any. Probably still a bit too early yet.

We did see Linnets, Stonechats, Tree Pipits, Meadow Pipits & Willow Warbler.

The only Insects of note for the day were Small Heaths & Treble-bar Moth.

Also a couple of Army Helicopters flew over the area.

In the evening, we went to Crowcombe Heathfield Station in the evening & were greeted by an appearance of a Red Kite flying overhead & a Male Green Woodpecker perched on a concreate fence post.

We were at the station to see the last train of the day to Bishops Lydeard.

This service was headed by 7812 Erlestoke Manor from Severn Valley Railway for the Summer season.
