We went to the West Somerset Railway Gala yesterday via the Quantocks to look for Emperor Moths. We saw about 8 individuals in total. One perched on the ground & showed very well before flying off. Also saw 3 distant Common Cuckoos, Ravens, Tree Pipit, Stonechats & Male Northern Wheatear. We then went to the West Somerset Railway annual Spring Steam Gala. The loco line up featured 9466, 9351 & 7828 Odney Manor all resident engines & were joined by visiting locos 6990 Witherslack Hall from Great Central Railway, 61306 Mayflower from Crewe LNWR Works, 6695 from Swindon & Cricklade Railway,1054 from Keighley & Worth Valley Railway & 1873 Jessie from Pontypool & Blaenavon Railway in South Wales.
