We went to Slimbridge WWT to see what was about.

The 1st Winter Glossy Ibis showed very well feeding in field north of access road just before car park.

We went to South Lake Discovery Hide to look for the European Spoonbill.

The 1st Winter was asleep tucked in the side of the causeway.

A Great Crested Grebe swam in front of the Discovery Hide.

A Little Egret was seen from the Martin Smith Hide.

We headed to Robbie Garnett & Stephen Kirk Hides, where a Black Swan was present on the Tack Piece with a few Mute Swans.

A few Ruff were also foraging on the Tack Piece viewed from Stephen Kirk Hide.

The Black Swan later showed very well from the Martin Smith Hide, along with a couple of Common Snipe.

Eventually the 1st Winter European Spoonbill woke up on the South Lake & started to forage, preen & bathe.

It then flew off towards the Tack Piece to start feeding.

We managed to catch up with it from Martin Smith Hide walking along the fence line.

The European Spoonbill flew down the channel towards the Robbie Garnett Hide, before landing in the juncus.

About a minute later, it flew past in front of the Robbie Garnett Hide.

From the Stephen Kirk Hide, we had a good view of the European Spoonbill feeding.

It also did a bit of feeding below the Estuary, before flying back to South Lake to roost for the night.

Also on the Tack Piece were 2 Bewick's Swans & a flock of European Golden Plovers.

We headed to the Rushy Pen to see the Wildfowl arriving for the evening feed.

These included Common Shelducks, Tufted Ducks, Greylag Geese, Northern Pintails, Mallards, Canada Geese & 2 Bewick's Swans.

The Black Swan was present briefly late afternoon, but left the pen with Mute Swan & didn't stay for the evening feed.

Sadly the 2 Whooper Swans, didn't appear for the evening feed & stayed out in the fields.
