We started on my birthday at St Agnes Head to look for the Snow Bunting. This Male showed very well during the morning, but was often elusive in the long grass on the slopes. It remained in the area until 24th January 2024. At Chapel Porth, a few Rock Pipits were still present on the beach. We headed to Stithans Reservoir to look for the Green-winged Teal. The Male Greater Scaup showed very well off the Golden Lion causeway, the Male Green-winged Teal on the other hand did not. At the Feeder Hide were the usual Blackbirds, Dunnocks, Great Tits, Blue Tits, Wren, Female Reed Bunting, Robins, House Sparrows & Long-tailed Tits. Our final port of call was Caerthillian Cove on the Lizard to look for the Richard's Pipit. This is a rare & annual vagrant to Britain from Asia. This 1st Winter had been feeding in the field by the metal cattle feeder & was last seen on 20th January 2024.
