Scarce irregular Winter visitors, mostly between Nov-Mar & in some years huge invasions of 100s-1,000s flocks.
Also winters in Southern Europe from Scandinavia & Russia depends on the berry crop, which is mainly Rowan.
They also breed in North West America & winter in the Central USA.
Adults have mainly buff plumage, white moustache, black bib, yellow tips to their wings, red waxy tips & a short prounnced crest.
Juveniles lack the crest.
The call is a high trill sirrrr.
