Rare local Summer visitors from April-September of 7,500 breeding pairs across Britain in Woodland in Southern/Eastern England.
Also breeds in continental Europe from April-August.
Winters in tropical Africa.
Adults are is plain brown above except for the reddish tail. It is buff to white below.
The sexes are similar.
The song is loud, with an impressive range of whistles, trills and gurgles.
