Common & widespread Winter Visitor of 210,000 in Britain, mostly from October-March.
Winters in Central Africa.
They also breed in Iceland & France.
In winter some head for South East Europe, Italy, Southern France & Iberia.
Males have a chesnut head with green mask through the eye & grey body with a white vertical line along the side.
Eclipse Males look like Females & Juveniles, but darker.
Females are tyipcal brown Dabbling Ducks, with a green speculum.
Males whistles cryc or creelycc, not loud but very clear and far-carrying.
The Female has a feeble keh or neeh quack.
