Eurasian Red Squirrel

Sciurus vulgaris

Common in Ireland, Scotland, Wales, Northern England & Southern England.

 Also common in the rest of Europe except in Iceland & the Mediterranean Islands.

In much of England & Wales they have been replaced by the bigger Grey Squirrels, which carry a deadly disease called a 'Chicken pot virus.'.

This affect kills many Red Squirrels that come into contact with it, while the Greys are immune to it.
