Rare & annual vagrants from Southern Europe with 300 records for Britain & 20 for Ireland from April-November, mostly May-June.
Breeds in France, Spain, Portugal, Morocco, Western Siberia, North Africa from April-August.
Winters in tropical & South East Africa.
Adults are mainly blue with an orange-brown back.
Sexes are similar, but the Juveniles is a drabber version of the Adults.
The call is a harsh Crow-like sound.
It gives a raucous series of calls when alarmed.
