Common & widespread in Ireland, England, Wales & Scotland.

 Few others are kept in Deer parks.

Also occurs in most of Central Europe absent from most of Scandinavia & Iceland.

Formerly more widespread & common, now only in little pockets of numbers in Southern Europe.

Has been introduced in North America, South America & New Zealand.
