Fin Whale

Balaenoptera physalus

Rare, but annual in Ireland & rarer in Britain.

This species is close in size to the similar Blue Whale, which makes it the 2nd largest Cetacean on Earth.

Found worldwide in all large oceans in the Atlantic.

Commonest around Iceland, Faroes & Norway.

Also west of the British Isles & in the west of the Mediterranean Sea.
