Very rare vagrants from North America with 20 records for Britain from April-October.
Only been recorded 5 times in Ireland.
Breeds in North America.
They are mainly greyish brown, with a rump pattern uniform with upperparts, and a long curved bill (longest in the Adult Female) with a kink rather than a smooth curve.
In flight, the rump is dark unlike on European birds which are white.
The usual call is a rippling whistle, prolonged into a trill for the song.
