Isabelline Shrike

Rare vagrants from Asia with a 100 records for Britain & 10 records for Ireland, mostly during October-November & mostly coastal.

Breeds in Western China, South West Asia & Mongolia.

Winters in East Africa, the Middle East & India.

Their plumage is a sandy colour which gives rise to its name.

It has a red tail.

Juveniles can be distinguished from Juvenile Red-backed Shrikes by the much sparser vermiculations on the underparts.
