Eupiagica quadripunctaria
Common in Southern England, mainly Devon.
As well as being nocturnal, they fly around in full daylight.
The Larvae feeds on a range herbaceous plants including Nettles.
The Insect overwinters as a small larva.
The hindwings are bright red across most of the range of the species, but in the northwest of the range the species is polymorphic, with red, orange, or yellow hindwings.
Adults fly in a single generation from July-September.
