Very rare migrants to Britain from South West Europe, mainly in Spring.
Former breeder in Britain.
Breeds in France, Mallorca & Spain.
Winters in Southern Europe to Central Africa.
Both Male and Female birds have black bills and dark legs, however Adults have dimorphic plumage.
Juveniles are duller than the Adults.
The call is a a "twanging, metallic, dwee-dwee-dweedweedwee sound".
