Little Stint

Calidris minuta

Widespread, but scarce migrants with around 750 per year mostly July-October period in Britain.

Breeds on tundra usually near the coast in the high arctic, Siberia & Northern Norway. 

Winters in Africa & very rare Winter visitors to Britain.

Breeding Adults have an orange wash to the breast, a white throat and a strong white V on its back.

In winter Plumage identification is difficult. 

Juveniles have pale crown stripes and a pinkish breast.

They also have dark legs.

The next species Temminck's Stint has yellow legs.
