Common in Northern Australia & Southern New Guinea.
Adults have black-and-white plumage in both sexes, with a long neck and legs and a long hooked bill.
Its legs and feet are orange.
Juveniles are duller than Adults.
The call is a loud resonant honking.
In flight, the pied plumage shows well.
