Rare vagrants to Britain from South Eastern Europe to Central Asia.

Winters in Southern Europe & Africa.

Breeding Adults are generally a subdued, light brown above with some darker mottling, with a pattern of somewhat diffuse small brownish spots on the breast and neck.

Winter birds are very pale.

Juveniles are duller than the Adults.

They have a white wedge up its back that is visible in flight.
