Lasiocampa quercus
The nominate form of the Oak Eggar is confined to Southern England & Wales.
The Larvae feed on Heather, Bilberry, Bramble, Sallows, Broom, Sloe, Hawthorn, Hazel & Sea-buckthorn.
The Males fly during the day, whilst the Females are nocturnal.
Unpaired Females may attract a large number of Males, and eggs are laid loosely in undergrowth.
Their flight is slightly later down in the south being from July-August.
