Scarce Winter Visitors to Northumberland, North West Wales & Scotland, a total of 41,500 birds & 38,000 wintering in Ireland from October-March.
Breeds in the high arctic.
The head and neck of the Adults are black, with a small white patch on either side of the neck.
The body is different shades of grey-brown all over, the flanks and belly are significantly paler than the back and present a marked contrast.
Juveniles are similar to Juvenile Dark-bellied Brent Geese, but paler bellies
The tertials are still present.
The flight & call is the same as B. b. bernicla.
