Rare & annual vagrants from Europe with 300 records for Britain in most months & some overwinter.
Breeds in Southern & Western Europe.
Adults have a light grey head with a black "mask" through the eye. The back is chestnut brown.
The sexes are very similar in appearance, but the Male has a broader mask and a more rufous back.
They have also been desribed as a mini Red-backed Shrike.
