Annual vagrants from North America with 50 records for Britain & 20 for Ireland in most months.

Sometimes overwinter.

Breeds from Central Canada south throughout most of North, Central & South America.

In the Winter, it is found from British Columbia & the Great Lakes southwards.

Adults in Summer Plumage are mainly brown, with a darker crown and back.

Also have a black band around near the tip of the bill, which it's lost in the Winter.

First British record was in December 1963 at Blagdon Lake, Avon.
