Rare vagrants from Asia with 100 records for Britain from October-March & some are escapes from captivity.

Breeds in Siberia. 

Winters in the Netherlands.

 It sometimes join Brent & White-fronted Geese flocks.

Adults are brightly marked species is unmistakable, but can be surprisingly difficult to find amongst brant geese.

At long distances, the red of the breast tends to look dark.
