Fairly common introduced residents in the UK with 120,000 breeding pairs, extensively released for shooting.

Rare in Ireland.

Also common and widespread Partridge around the farmlands of Central Europe.

They are widespread in France, Northern Italy, Spain, Western Germany & Portugal.

The Chukar Partridge was also introduced to Britain from Europe until 1992, when it became illegal.

Adults are sandy-brown above, pinkish-buff on the belly, and pale grey on the breast, with a prominent gorget of black streaking, bold rufous and black flank-bars, a cream throat, pink legs, and a red bill and eye ring.

The call is a three-syllable ka-chu-chu.
