Common & widespread around the British coastline.

Also occurs worldwide in tropical warm sea around the Mediterranean Sea & Black Sea, follows the North Atlantic currents as far as Britain, Ireland & Scandinavia, occasionally venturing out into the North Sea towards the south in British waters.
