Very rare migrant from North America, 10 per year in Britain with 100 records for Ireland.

Sometimes escapes from captivity.

Breeds in North America, Greenland & Siberia. 

Winters in costal North America.

Adults come in 2 colour varietys or morphs.

White Morphs are all white apart from the black win tips, shows well in flight & the pink bill with slight pounced grinning patch.

Blue Morphs have are greyer blue body with just a white head.

The call is contostany of honking sounds.
