Gavia adamsii

Very rare migrant from Northern Siberia with 400 records for Britain & 20 for Ireland in most months.

They breed on the arctic coasts of Russia, Canada & North America.

Breeding Adults are black with white spots, like the Great Northern Diver but with a white bill.

Adults in non breeding plumage & Juvenile are brownish grey, but with the white bill.

Known as Yellow-billed Loons in North America.
